I was at Costco yesterday and found they had 3 packages of USDA Prime Brisket for $3.79/lb sitting right next to their USDA Choice which was $6.79/lb (or something, obviously didn't buy that).

Definitely YMMV. I'm smoking the 11 lb brisket now and it is nearly ready to eat. Looks like a really good piece of meat. I'm definitely no expert though.

I'd love to hear people's feedback on this. It is my first post, and one I felt worthy of sharing. I'm sure prices like these are very regional (and I did leave one in the cooler for those nearby).

Thanks!

3/27 is not a short code date, so this is a good find.

I also noticed my store had the Prime Brisket at this price when I picked up a few things last night. Excellent deal. IMO the prime steaks Costco sells is worth the price of membership alone. In fact, I'm having one of their prime steaks for dinner tonight Big Grin

I'm no expert either, but seems like prime would too fatty for a brisket. I thought the idea was to cook it long and soften it up. Hope it ends up good and not a grease pile.

Can you (or anyone ) tell if this is whole, point, or flat? Sorry, I'm on the mobile app, so if it is clear from the picture, I can't tell.

Not really by itself. You'd want to mix it with some other cuts.

For instance, see this article [seriouseats.com].

Oh, I wish I had a Costco near me. This is a good price, especially considering the price is brisket has skyrocketed recently.

that's a definite deal but as you mentioned....YMMV.

My local Costco doesn't sell brisket (maybe I have to ask).

Regarding the comment "but seems like prime would too fatty for a brisket"...there is no such thing Smilie
