Banned sites

Alright, I just got a slap on the wrist for trying to post a deal from the gear best website. Actually, it was more of a gentle tap than a true slap but the post was rejected and the website name and link were replaced with "urlhasbeenblocked". First off, is there a list of banned websites so I don't go through the work of creating a post just to have it denied? Also, just curious what the website did to earn the ban? My guess is they spammed deals on the forums. Finally, can I assume they are permanently banned? If so, too bad, as they do sometimes have good deals that other Slickdealers might find interesting but I understand that rule-breakers need to be punished.

External links to certain sites have been blocked by the Slickdeals administration. The following might be reasons why the link has been blocked:
  • Link shortening & masking sites are blocked to prevent people from hiding links. Please link directly to the site instead.
  • Spam and/or referral sites that are posted often.
  • Sites that self promote their own bad deals.
  • Other deal sites.
  • Bad sites in general.
  • We do not block merchants because of monetary reasons. If a merchant is blocked, it is usually after multiple bannings of different accounts shilling their own deals.

We get this question quite often, even though it's in the rules and it's been asked many times in previous threads. But no one ever does a search before posting. So I gave up a long time ago on answering this one. But you're more than welcome to hang out in the lounge, we only bite if you ask. Wink

But also if the merchant requests it be removed, right? Because I had a case or two of that where the merchant didn't want to be listed. They are a higher end furnishings company but because they wouldn't permit themselves to be listed here I'll never buy from them. Can't stand elitist crap.

This website is full of people who whine, lie, yell, etc. (basically do anything) to save a penny, I'm with them on this one.
