Rosy Cheeks. Not Cute.

Blush <-- dis me a lot.

I broke down and went to the doctor and got my already known diagnosis of rosacea. I thought she'd give me miracle creams and send me home. Creams are not so miracle. shake head

Wondering if anyone has or has a loved one that deals with it and what products you use that work and things you know you should stay away from?

Seems laser treatments work well for the redness.

I don't have that but here's what I would do:

Research it and make sure you're not doing anything to make it worse. Especially look at your diet.

Apple cider vinegar seems to be a miracle worker. Research that and see if it may help.

I like Skinceuticals, Skinmedica, and Neocutis. These are all high end skincare brands that the dr's have in their offices. They all have products for it but I've never used any.

Also when dealing with skincare conditions make sure you go to a derm that focuses on the vanity side. If the derm's office is full of old people run. I've never been happy with those. Try some high end med spas that have a dr there. Some just have nurse practitioners.

Hth and good luck.

I've heard they're expensive. I just don't know how expensive. Every day is seemingly getting worse for me. I was hoping there was something like different skincare products.. But if they don't help, I might break down and do it.

I had a high end med spa w a doctor picked out, but she couldn't see me til the end of month so I went to my regular derm. I think I might go see the other derm as well.

I guess it depends on your definition of expensive but I would call around. My SO goes to a place that charges a couple hundred for a treatment but always has 'specials' or 'packages' available that are much cheaper than the regular per treatment price.

Are you certain it's rosacea? I have skin allergies and eczema both of which were pretty mild, but over the last 10+ years (while going through the change) the formerly mild eczema on my legs and arms has flared up on my face, neck and ears. Mad

You need to go find a Maestro and ask them to give you a Chinese balm to put on your face...should heal it right up.

I have it. You can't really tell anymore because there's no redness but the pores remain a bit larger than normal. Visit: www.rosacea.org

Alcohol, spicy foods, and some medications are vasodilators (expand blood vessels). Makes it worse. Avoid sunlight. Reduce stress. Mine got much better over time. Creams didn't work.

I think that's a good idea. The ones at the med spas seem to be better at dealing with vanity issues if that makes sense. That's just my experience though. Good luck on getting it under control.

Doxycycline, 100mg daily, for three weeks. Clears up rosacea for my wife for a few weeks, but then it recurs. Frown

My sister has a mild form of rosacea, my mom has it pretty bad. My sister recently started using witch hazel, and it seemed to clear up her face amazingly! She had tried all sorts of other things that didn't really seem to help in the past.

I do not know of any products that will work personally. But I did find this: http://www.murad.com/redness-ther...-skin-care

I had it for years, so embarrassing and frustrating. About three years ago I gave up wheat to help my husband who had joint issues. I realized about one month later that my skin was dramatically better.

Since then, I have had a few times when I've fallen off the wagon and eaten wheat (not just a little, but significant amounts). My skin gets red and rough and dry, but clears up after two or three weeks. I mentioned this to my dermatologist and he just said "Hmmm!"

Even though people are skeptical, may be worth a try, not much to lose. No topical products ever helped me, but I never tried anything else.

Hope it helps!

Chang Sheng herbal rejuvenating soap works for me. Kind of expensive for a bar of soap, but a bar lasts me about 4 months. I've only been able to find it online. You can read the Amazon reviews.

I've also ordered the Face Doctor soap and it seemed to be exactly the same product but in a different box, but I just looked at it online and it looks like it is now a different product. I looked at the ingredients and now they are not the same as Chang Sheng. If you look at the reviews for Face Doctor soap the older reviews are good, the newer reviews say it is not the same.
