Ebay resellers - tell me your story...

535 229 April 21, 2016 at 06:15 AM
I've never really sold much on Ebay, more of a buyer, but the few things lately that I have sold were nowhere near worth the hassle. How do those of you that sell make sure it still makes you money? Apart from dumping stock found with price mistakes it seems that the steadily increasing Ebay fees, Paypal fees, and 'buyer-centric' policies have made Ebay selling a lot more difficult, less profitable, and more cutthroat. I'm just curious to hear from anyone who's actually making it work.

There was a lovely lady who was bringing up three very lovely girls.

There was a man who was raising three boys of his own.

One day the man and woman met and started a blended family.

You forgot to include the PayPal fee [paypal.com] of 2.9% + .30 per transaction

Ebay is a ripoff from a sellers point of view. 10% Ebay fee + PayPal's 2.9% + .30 fee + PayPal is required to report gross payments received for sellers who receive over $20,000 in gross payment volume AND over 200 separate payments in a calendar year.

13% fee + paying tax. I wonder why people are still selling on eBay.

I would've thought the market would be flooded with them(like the PSTV bundles and standalone units) and thus prices would drop. Guess not.

There's a WM about 30-35 minutes from here showing "one or less" in stock on the 16 GB ones. Sadly I was just up that way about 2 weeks ago after grabbing the PSTV bundles from the closest store here. But I didn't know about the clearance on the memory cards at that point. I should've stopped and checked either way.Mad

And that's why I wrote out this thread. I'm just curious whether those SD members selling on Ebay are like Bareborn and are scooping up price mistakes and B&M clearanced stuff or whether there's still a market for grinding out a few cents on the dollar with high volume selling.

The ONLY times I've sold anything online on Amazon(only have one feedback on eBay so I haven't sold there...yet) is when it's worth a LOT more than I paid. Why waste my time on something where I'm making $10-20 after shipping and fees?

Although Amazon's shipping 'credits' freakin' blow in comparison to what it ACTUALLY costs to ship some items. Not to mention the fact that unless you do signature confirmation on everything all a buyer has to claim is they never received it and unless you have a signature on that package you're SOL.

The thing that is suspicious - why is it PayPal reporting to the IRS and not Ebay? And why doesn't PayPal send sellers a 1099-K in the mail like every other tax reporting company?
