There are two (2) ways to enter:
1- Automatic Entry: An Eligible Participant will automatically receive one (1) Sweepstakes entry for each eligible purchase made with an eligible United MileagePlus Chase credit card during the Promotional Period at a participating merchant location in the U.S. Only eligible United MileagePlus Chase credit card purchases, or payments made with an eligible United MileagePlus Chase credit card that is not in default under the customer agreement for that account and issued by Chase Bank U.S.A., N.A. processed through Visa U.S.A. Inc.'s or MasterCard's transaction-processing system during the Promotional Period are eligible for automatic entry ("qualified purchase"). In the event of a dispute as to who submitted a particular cardmember entry, such entry will be deemed to be submitted by the primary person in whose name the card used to enter the Sweepstakes was issued. ATM transactions, account adjustment transactions/returns, cash advances, balance transfers, non-U.S.-dollar purchases, Interlink®-processed transactions, purchases authorized by entering a PIN (Personal Identification Number), and payment of late fees or over-limit fees are excluded from automatic entry. Other restrictions and exclusions may apply. United MileagePlus Chase credit cards or card numbers that are stolen, fraudulent, tampered with, or otherwise altered are not eligible for automatic entry. Automatic entries must be made by 11:59:59 PM PT on 9/30/16, in order to be eligible.

By submitting an entry, Entrant agrees to comply with the Sweepstakes Official Rules. Entries may only be submitted by a single Entrant. Entries that do not comply with these Official Rules, as determined in Sponsor and/or Administrator's sole discretion, will be disqualified from the Sweepstakes. Decisions of the Sponsor and/or Administrator are final and binding.

I was looking at the odds of winning the grand prize which they estimate at 1:1,668,600. (I assume this is per entry.) So, between credit card purchases and form filling, I think I will have around 1,000 entries by the end of september. That will bring the odds to 1:1,668 of winning the grand prize. My opinion is that points are really worth about a penny each, not the 2.7 cents they estimate. So, the value of the grand prize is more like $10,000. If you assume that the $7,500 they give you simply goes to paying taxes on the prize (appx retail value), then the expected value of this whole activity is about $6, so totally not worth the time it takes to fill the forms out by hand.
On the other hand, its pretty good odds for winning the small 5,000 point prize, and 1:16 for the 25,000 point second place prize. Not to mention your now increased ability to recognize street signs, store fronts, rivers, trees, etc.....

that's a lot of taxes to be paid by the grand prize winners... United lists $27,500 as the value of the grand price of 1 million miles.
