Just went to my local Costco and saw this soundbar. Looks like a great item at this price. Let me know what you think and good luck slickdealers. It was originally $379.99 and now $279.99 from 1/5/17 - 1/29/17.
Not sure why the thumbs down initially, I think this is a good price. It's normally $399 at Sams Club but currently has a $50 discount, just saw it tonight. As far as I know this system was well received by consumers.
It sounds pretty good IMO for what it is - a sound bar system under $500. Granted, it won't compare to a heavy hitting sub from Polk, DT, etc but you shouldn't expect that for the price you're paying.
Should be fine for most viewers in a small to medium sized room.
it sounds really good for a sound bar system ( I tested LG, Samsung, Bose and this one has loudest sound). the rear speakers are tiny but they do the job when watching movie. set up was easy it took less than 10 minutes, hope it will last for a couple years
I walked into Costco yesterday and thought I was purchasing the SB4051-C0. Little did I know it was this model! I set it up immediately when I got home. Everything is a breeze to set up as the soundbar and sub are already paired (they do it in the factory as stated in the directions). I tried The Revenant as well as Mad Max: Fury Road. They each sounded downright amazing. The bass is quite good overall and the soundbar (center speaker) makes the dialogue very easy to understand. The great part is you can customize the center as well as R/L of the soundbar, surround sound and bass of course. I have to say it is "Pretty, pretty, crisp." I had the volume quite high during moments and no hissing or nasty audio artifacts were noticeable. The two back speakers also add some overall dimension. For $280 I do not think you can do better. I had owned the ELAC B6's along with ELAC C5 center speaker with a Denon receiver. I didn't care for the sound compared to the cost and sent them back. When watching regular TV the audio doesn't jump out at you like watching the aforementioned movies but it still sounds very good. It has a movie and music EQ so not much to say on that as I can't say it changes the overall sound. Music does have a rich sound overall while I listened through Pandora and Spotify. I can say I'm definitely happy with the purchase and if you aren't an extreme audiophile I think you will be as well.
These are the new 2016 models with Google Cast built in so you can cast to these speakers as you would any Google Chrome Cast device. They also support Bluetooth 4.0 but unlike the old Vizio series these replace there isn't any support for aptX so you want to make sure you are going to use Wi-Fi to stream to these for the best streaming sound quality.
I went to Costco for something else and ended up listening to this. WOW WOW WOW! The only thing that sounded better, and it wasn't significant, was the Bose 5.1 unit for $999.99. This think is a beast and sounds rich, full, smooth, velvety, deep, clear, and everything else, lol. The only criticism I have is the 2 back channel speakers aren't visually appealing and look awkward on stands. If you can put them in an entertainment system, bookshelf style, behind your main seating area, then you're set. The subwoofer is so thin it slides under the couch which is impressive. I love that. It really packs a wallop.
Who would have thought of Vizio being in the audio market but they have great reviews. Their new portable Bluetooth speaker, the Smartcast Crave ($149.99 at a Costco and was told it will go on sale for $99.99 next) , looks like a giant Echo (2.5 ft tall I estimated and bigger than a bathroom waste can) and made the Marshall Acton sound like crap (they were side-by-side and I went to hear the Acton) and these can be added to the 2.1 channel version of this Vizio soundbar ($129.99 at Costco) to make a Sonos style system...add two and you've got 4.1 channels and all the features of Sonos.
I now want this 5.1 channel Vizio Smartcast soundbar!
I see On Costco.com that it might come in different sizes for approx $20 more/less. I'm still unsure if the length of the soundbar is the only difference but it looks to that way.
$100 instant rebate is good, but $279 is still too steep for me right now. I hope this goes on sale for $200 or less.
FYI, if you do buy this....reviews say that having "eco mode" turned on is what causes disconnection issues between the subwoofer and the soundbar, as well as Bluetooth dropping and the pairing fails after powering off. Turn off eco mode in the setup &or Smartcast App and that has fixed the issue for nearly everyone.
