Kroger 4X fuel points on Amazon gift card (possible YMMV)
I bought $100 Amazon (fixed face value) and $150 TRU yesterday and got 700 points. Looks like the amazon gift card earned 4X points. Today I went to another Kroger and bought $200 Amazon gift card (variable face value) and confirmed it. See the receipt for details.
Not sure about other gift cards except TRU (2X points).

Otherwise, time to keep checking sears for surprise points and stock up on gas cans.
BTW, you do NOT earn any points buying Kroger GCs or Visa/MC/Amex GCs. However, for those of using credit cards with bonus points for grocery store purchases, it's worth buying a Kroger GC to pay for the after-points gas total: Kroger gas gets reported to credit card merchants as a "miscellaneous" purchase and not as a a gas station. So, even if your credit card gives you 2% or 3% on gas station purchases, you just get 1% (or whatever) at Kroger Gas Stations.
