yes, it was fine even before the January firmware update, and now it is even better.
LG does not require purchase from an authorized dealer to honor the warranty, so being "authorized" doesn't mean much beyond "You will likely pay more from them since they're bound by MAP"
the company ships the TV inside of another box which was nice because the outer box was kind of beat up. nothing major but you could tell that it had been banged around a little bit.
the actual TV box was virtually untouched. shipping was really fast originally it said it would be coming on Friday the 27th but then suddenly it ended up coming a week early.
overall I can't really complain about anything. TV is incredible.

there was an issue with the lag cycling between 30 & 50 ms, which could be annoying, but they might have fixed that in a firmware update already? That level of latency isn't bad for gaming, you might not want to use it for mouse & keyboard games, but for controller stuff, I doubt it'll be noticeable. (I have heard about some people using this tv as their pc monitor, though, so if you're not super-sensitive to lag, it'll be totally fine.)
