Boost Mobile has Apple iPhone SE Smartphone for Boost Mobile on sale starting from $89.99 after promo code BSV501Q17 (applied in cart). Shipping is free. Thanks Poseidon & A4E
I'll try to update my experience when I get the approval unlock via unlock4less... But right now, here are the steps:
1) Find an unlock service of your choice (I used unlock4less)
2) Enter the IMEI from the back of the phone (15 digit) or back of the box (14 digit, unlock4less accepts it and guess the last digit)
3) Wait for their approval for unlock
4) Once approve, find a non-Sprint SIM and boot the phone up with the non-Sprint SIM and it should take a few seconds to a minute as it connects with the server to find the unlock (make sure to be connected on wifi)
That should be it.
If you want to turn on/set up the phone before it is unlocked, you must use the Sprint SIM, otherwise it will not go through the activation screen, as I tried setting it up using an AT&T SIM, but couldn't get past the SIM activation screen.
Instead of an iPhone SE I ordered, they charged me and shipped me an LG Tribute 2 for Virgin Mobile instead.

No, it doesn't. It says read this other thread, it might have an answer. Then the thread has a bunch of conflicting info, eBay unlocks that might work, people trying to scam credit card companies, etc
Bottom line, the OP suggests they can be unlocked, because there are "tips". But that's misleading. Most people conclude it's not worth it.

Do you need to actually buy the Boostmobile service as well? Can I just buy the phone and use it on my T-Mobile account?
You'd likely have to use an unlock service to unlock it. The IMEI status is typically set to unpaid bills, basically boost wants you to be witht them for a year before they would unlock it despite it being a no contract phone.
