BEWARE!! Buyer protection on Aliexpress is nothing like that of eBay, sellers will refund half of your payment if your item arrives DOA in many cases (even with video proof of defective product)

Ali express is great. I've had better luck with Ali than I've had with ebay. You can score some real deals there on clothing(including costumes and lingerie), phone accessories, phones(be super careful and don't buy a phone via Ali unless you're fairly proficient in Android administration, know your local bands, etc), beauty products if you're brave enough, tactical gear if that's your thing.

One thing have noticed is that as China's middle class grows, the deals on Ali degrade ever so slightly. Just progress, I guess. Prices are going up. Beware counterfeits, unless you don't care. Men's clothing likely won't fit but sizes for most American women are available(seriously though, read the comments and order a size or two up). You can buy women's shoes that fit, but unless you're an American size 8 and a man, don't bother. Although you can probably get some custom boots made on the cheap if you hunt around.

Replacement electronic compotents--circuit boards, batteries and the like--are super cheap. But processors are not. They buy those from us(when Intel isn't just throwing them at the Chinese market to secure marketshare, that is). Still you can find pretty good deals on Surface-like devices. The Chinese actually did American consumers a favor as those knock-off devices went a long way towards forcing American bigdogs to drop their prices down. Sadly there hasn't been much innovation in the Chinese tablet market in over a year. Way off topic here, but if you need tv parts or circuit boards you'll get that for 25% to 50% of what an American reseller would charge.

The best deals right now that I've been finding are on spring clothes for my wife. Yoga shorts and whatnot that wold cost $40 to $60 here only cost $5 to $10 on Ali... read the comments to get an idea on quality, but it's generally high.
I have been using Ali for three years now with 140+ orders placed. I didn't receive an order maybe 3 times, and always got a full refund, except the time when a package was marked delivered but apparently stolen off my doorstep. I've had very positive experiences with them. The best products IMHO are their jewelry selection.. you can get trendy fashion jewelry that you would see at Kohl's or Forever 21 for $15+ for only $1-2. I get tons of compliments on the items I've bought from there. Also recommend their household goods like kitchen utensils, decor.. I've bought some really elegant looking chair covers that fit great. Clothing can be a crapshoot, once I bought a dress for $2 and received an awful poorly-made child-sized item, but got one of my favorite dresses for $8. They have lots of electronics that vary in pricing and quality, some of it is total crap but likely the same crap selling for double on Amazon or eBay - Bluetooth speakers, earbuds, phone chargers etc. Got some Yeti mugs that are authentic as far as I can tell, but a fraction of the original price.

Anyway, all this to say they are not shady or risky in any way, like eBay if you get a deadbeat seller you will get your money back. Even the free shipping seems to be tracked now and they have purchase protection on all orders. I tend to get most items within a month, sometimes as fast as 2 weeks. For best results sort by order number and read the feedback, especially on items like clothing so you can tell how small it runs. Also note whenever there are major Chinese holidays (I believe twice a year for a week or so), many sellers don't process orders or ship items, so you might have to wait extra time.
My credit card payment, which I have been using all over the places; like AMZ, eBay, BB, has a problem w/ AliExpress payment system !!!

Sooo, my first order was incomplete. However, their security system advised me to submit "My Appeal"...by asking me to send the picture of; my ID/Driver license/Social Security card, as well as, the picture of my Credit Card & Monthly Statement.

Ummm, I personally do not think...I am applying for any mortgage or car loan from Alibaba & AliExpress.

Well, my first order was cancelled...and, I won't be back to AliExpress...probably, not in this life !!!

Note:
Still couldn't figure it out...how to delete my credit card info, which AliExpress system says you can delete it later...!!! This store is very...very...shady, so you beware !!!

Those codes are limited in number of redemptions. Last time I signed up, they reached their quota and wouldn't give me a discount.
