I ordered two of these... one shipped immediately and one has yet to be shipped. I called gen today and their best advise was for me to cancel that order and reorder it. Umm... no thanks just ship me...

I mean if they're looking to upgrade the CPU, they might as well wait for the Xeon version to go on sale from dell. Don't they normally hit at or below $300 (or was that just the t20s)

I'm happy with this as a NAS. I'll have to see how the 4GB performs and maybe grab another stick. Just wish I would have jumped on those WD 4TB NAS drives at BestBuy now.

That's different but even then it still makes a little sense to get this for daily computing. I wouldn't but I can see why some would.

Don't think this will support a CPU with that power requirement. It's lacking the full ATX power connector. If you need i7 power then this is the wrong machine for you. The G4400 is plenty for 90%...

What all are you using this for? CPU seems pretty slow. File servers?

This is a regular M2. I dont think NVME is compatible. DDR4 PC19200 UDIMM cost is too high now. 16GB RAM clocks you >150$.

Debating between this or a TS-251/451+ for a NAS. Would this work good with OMV or OpenNAS? And does anyone know how much more power this would consume over the QNAP?

I don't see why not. I did this on a the older T20 and it worked. Replaced a Pentium G3220 with a Xeon E3-1245V3. Oh, be very careful with the swap. The motherboard socket pins are very fragile /...

Thinking of exactly the same. Does your setup handle 1080p stream transcoding without any issues?
Post #101062360 added 06-13-2017 10:15 PM by NoUsernameSpecified in Deal Talk
If you don't intend to use it as a media server and just storage, get a NAS. Otherwise, 251/451 has very limited transcoding capabilities.

Also worth adding, Dell can be flaky about rebates! They have "sent" me $150 in e-giftcards that they owe me twice, each time they didn't arrive, and each time they said it wouldn't happen again......
