FYI, I run BlueIris on a Lenovo TS140 with the Xeon processor, and it idles at about 30% CPU. That's running three 4MP cameras, one 2MP camera, and six other 720P cameras for a total of ten cameras.

My post could have been a little more clear: I meant toss Linux on the T30 and use software RAID. For most home NAS workloads, the performance of a Linux software RAID will be fine.

In idle condition, the noise is very negligible (around 30 db'ish). If you are doing Plex transcode and stream to 2 or more devices, then you will notice some noise. Otherwise its very quiet.
