Also had issues with battery doa. One battery lasts 5 minutes, the other lasts about a day. Very frustrating, but at least it's easy enough to replace the battery.

I have that stick and I use it with a Raspberry PI and Domoticz. Works great, very solid, but there's more configuration work (and more flexibility) than a prepackaged hub like Smartthings.
