$3 is how much something like this is worth, unless the person receiving it has special needs, spend a little more and get something decent

This is perfect for any child or adult. It's a set of crayons and markers. If you put the cap on it won't dry out, if you keep the lead sharp it will write! Does it look cheap ,yes...does it do what...
