Try to set Preferred Network Type in Cellular Networks to 3G. Make a phone call or two then set it back to 4G/LTE. Also, make sure you have the correct APN for AT&T.

The non Verizon notification does come up when restarted, but simply swipe it away and it wont come back until restart. Not really a big deal to me, so I haven't really looked into permanently...
