There's no need to flash it. Once you pay it off it'll most likely get unlocked automatically. If it a T-Mobile SIM card doesn't work after 2-4 days, give them a call and request an unlock.

Tmo will flat out tell you no if you don't pay for 40 days of service. Sprint will in most cases unlock automatically after paying off device.
