I think it only pulls location once and a while and that's if you use the notification for driving home and stuff. In the app it of course uses it non stop. I don't think battery life is too bad

I have an iPhone and Waze. Watched a YouTube video and it shows you need to disable CarPlay to use waze. Is that still true? Waze is pretty critical for my commute to and from the office.

Yeah, but it wasn't clear on ABT's page (it just says, "Pioneer Double-DIN DVD Bluetooth Receiver - AVH-4201NEX"). In contrast, the Crutchfield pages explicitly mentions the camera in the title.

This is not a bad deal. Tri state of sound is selling the 4200 for $455 on Amazon right now, so comes out to $355 after the $100 rebate. No tax but also no backup camera.
