I have a Banana Republic VISA credit card and got an email about this. The fine print says Gap Inc. cards, so I think Gap and Old Navy VISA credit cards should also be valid. Store cards are not. ...

I didn't get the email but I logged into my account and found it under the offers tab. My Banana Republic card has been very lucrative with all the outside their brand promos they run.

This offer is about card issuer points, not Samsung Pay points. 500 points=$5, 1000=$10 and so on.

Yes, store only cards have no visa logos. just like JCPenney has regular and Master Card ones.

For the mobile wallet promo, I haven't. The offer did say "allow up to two billing cycles for bonus points to post" and based on prior experience, I have no reason to doubt this will happen.

Store cards are credit cards. You just can't use them outside the store, hence store credit use only. Visa credit cards are used outside the store.

Correct. In addition you will get Samsung pay rewards. So if you are platinum status, 40 points x 30 transactions = 1200 points.
