I was looking at the i7 7700 at microcenter. I just upgraded my gpu and its creating a trickle down where I'm going to need to upgrade everything (I'm running a 7.5 year old i7, so I'm due probably)....

These can be overclocked more than the 7700 from what I hear. 4 cores/ 8 threads is still considered a good combination for normal users and gaming. My bad, thought this was a K variant.

If your upgrading everything I would wait and buy a 6 core or higher. Intel 6 core should be out Oct 5th ish and Ryzen price may drop. 6700k/7700k will likely drop also if you still want to go that...

4 cores still best at gaming, not bad for the price. just bought 7700k for $278 5 months ago. i dont think it ll go any lower and its becoming rare and rare.
