If your kid is just beginning to fish I would either start them off with a push button or one of the spin cast reels

I caught 1000+ fish on this reel over 8 months an the reel is as smooth as I got it an the drag is still perfect it has never been greased. So I don't believe the d or c ratings I would at least give...
