529 is no good, can only use for kids education and it will count toward kids income, so if the parents try to apply for financial aid it will hurt the application big time

You can set up multiple 529’s. I’m not sure about deducting from your paycheck. Mine is auto-drafted from my checking account

Good point. Yes, you can set up a 529 for any state in the country, I believe. However something to consider… My state, Nebraska, only provides a state tax income tax deduction for a Nebraska state...
