You would open it up and replace the battery that way. Batteries are more reliable but still fail of course. They just have them pretty much internally attached via a cable like the sata hdd slot....

Unplug the battery if you are plugged in all the time. That's what I do... Reduce the # used cycle for the battery.

True but the net difference is only +$80 for the Dell. For that, the SSD is already installed and you don't have to worry about adding one and screwing up the warranty.
