I would still put Dell higher on the chain than MSI for gaming laptops. At least Dell will respond to support requests and repairs are usually far more reasonable in price and scope.

Depends on what you're doing. For any workload that can utilize all 6 cores, 8th gen is better. Otherwise you won't notice that much of a difference in regular workloads.
