EasyStores do not have encryption. MyBooks do. It will clearly say it on the packaging if it has it as it's a "selling point."

On my whites, head parking (APM) is enabled. Using CrystalDiskInfo i was able to see this attribute and could disable it, as well as get the slider to set the value. YMMV

You may want to look into formatting it as exfat. If you use the standard HFS+ that mac uses, Windows will not be able to use it. If you use the standard NTFS that windows uses, mac will mount it as...

if the DCM, starts w/L then it's 128MB otherwise a utility like CrystalDiskInfo will tell you without having to do any disassembly.

It's probably because it still uses an old software module. http://event.asus.com/2009/networks/disksupport/ The drive by default is probably exFAT. Anything over 2TB and you'll have issues...

I got the HGST He10 8TB 256 cache Helium filled enterprise version. Works great in my QNAP. Look for R/N # US7SAL080 on white label to see if you have it. That R/N number shows up in the PDF...

No. It's the orange wire that is causing the problem. Cut it, and the drive will spin up normally, as will any other drive.
