It’s a Mac, better paying an Apple tax rather than a pc tax!

Will we see even steeper discounts on these models once the refresh happens, or is this the best it'll get?

I'm in the same exact boat as you. Mid 2012 here, w/an SSD and 16GB since day one. Runs like a champ. News one better have a hex core + 32GB ram option or else I'll put off upgrading again.

Yeah, I don't absolutely need it right away so I'll wait. There's also rumors of a new 13" laptop.

If someone is dropping $1300 (Macbook Pro + AppleCare) for a laptop, i would assume they would want a SSD larger than 128GB and MORE RAM than 8GB I bought my Macbook Air in late 2013/early 2014 -...

Probably not an intelligent plan to install a 63GB program on a 128GB laptop. You should buy the computer that fits your specific needs and not assume your needs of a 63GB program apply to everyone...

I can understand only having 8GB RAM for a $1099 machine. But 128GB of storage in 2018?!! If you had Logic Pro X with all the sounds installed, the installation alone eats up 63GB.

I need to jump in here, with the macbook pro, you can lots of tabs open with no issues. You may be thinking of the macbook air. Macbooks have a useful life of 5 years or more, no sense paying more...

It wont matter too much. This deal is for the non-touch which has the 15W processor. Going from the i5-7360U in this to a i5-8350U in a 8th gen refresh provides very minor improvements. Average...

If you have Logic Pro installed with all the sounds, you need a laptop for work, and can certainly afford to upgrade to the 256GB or bigger model.
