For a new baby, check out the doona. A bit pricey, but totally worth it. Only sad part is they outgrow it in a year and you have to buy one of these. The doona impresses everyone that sees it.

Just FYI taken from the seat's description..... Convertible Car Seat can be used with children 5 - 40 pounds in rear-facing mode and from 22 - 65 pounds in forward-facing mode
