It will work. You won’t be able to turn-off VR. Older cameras like 5200 do not have that menu in its software and lens does not hardware switch to turn on/off VR.

For the D5200 I think just the ability to turn VR off. Unless there is a firmware update for it. Still, the best it will be is in the menu system... which is silly.
