apparently this is a known issue. i updated the bios (not sure why dell wouldnt ship you a laptop with the most up to date software/drivers but that seemed to resolve the issue.)

I placed an order on 2/19/18 within the time frame of the rebate, but my Dell invoice says order date is 2/20/18 (possibly because it was processed the next day?). My email confirmation clearly...
