That system that you got instead is an analog system. The system in the OP is a IP system and an NVR, not a DVR. I have the LaView system and, while definitely not perfect, it's a quality system....

Its referring to the ports on the NVR itself, however, the software can handle 16 cameras. So all you have to do is provide an additional 8 ports off an external PoE switch and you got 8 more ports....

Hi Skywaytp, the image is from 4 MP camera. The kit came with 2 x 4MP and 2 x 2MP cameras. I have not installed the 2MP ones currently.

I think the only way to know for sure would be at call LaView and ask what the NVR model number and see if that NVR truly supports 16 cameras. I don't have my kit yet so I am not 100% sure on that. ...
