Hi Vik, As I noted there, yes - this should work. They are both Hikvision OEM products. Worst case you have to properly set IP address info, IP net mask, user/password, and port info.

Sam88, thanks. Even with the Cat5 that comes with the camera. I could never figure out how to work with it. With cat6, yes, I can insert it before I terminate the ends with rj45 connectors.

The cylindrical enclosures are for Cat5e cables. Cat6 is too thick for it.

I called Newegg to get more info. They were nice but had no idea of the NVR's model number or whether it supported 1 or 2 HDD. Then I called Laview. The $539 NVR system on Laview supports only 1 HDD...

According to their PDF on the DVR they should work. The LaView DVR in question should support all 3 remaining HD over coax standards, CVBS, and 2 ip cams...though CVI and AHD are limited to 1080.

That's weird. I have the 3MP Hikvision DS-2CD1031-I which is almost the same as your LAVIEW ones. It's clear day and night. You may check with LAVIEW tech support. It could be a defective unit.
