34" 21:9 monitor wins hands down! Better for multitasking multiple windows\tasks, tons better for gaming, and 21:9 movies look gorgeous on it. But your going to be paying much more too.

Good upgrade then. Just make sure the video card you get is freesync and not gsync if you get this monitor.

Also, it depends on how powerful your son's gaming computer is? If the Graphics card is a mid range card like GTX 1060 then playing game at 1440P with high settings won't yiled good results.

ASUS doesn't provide prepaid labels either and their repair centers are absolutely awful. AOC definitely isn't the only one. Outside of PC hardware, Cuisinart also forced me to pay shipping on repair...
