The 1950x is still a workhorse for people who needs it gen 2 or not. I see no point to upgrade at this time and I wish I had paid this price.

For gaming? No. You'd still pay more for the motherboard unnecessarily. Whatever Intel's top i5 is would probably perform better. For workstation and highly threaded stuff this is, seriously, one...

I work in IT, i've had this discussion with multiple co-workers who bought it at release for gaming...I told them unless they are going to be setting up an at home LAB to just go with an i7.
