I have done it plenty of times in my lifetime. Most recently with a 1yr old. I can't say I am a huge fan of the trip, but this is a steal compared to some of the RT prices I have paid.

LAX to BRI via Qantas was 16 hours. LAX to Hong Kong via China Southern was just as long but LAX to BRI felt much faster. It was fine.

when you get there it's usually 2 days after you left, but early morning, so you skip a day in the week. If you leave Wednesday you'll get there Friday for example.
