That plastic is just from the cheap container the unit is sitting in. Mine were the same, I saw where the plastic broke and it's obviously the same thin plastic.

No it won't keep cooking, since its at the exact temp there is no carry over cooking like other methods of cooking, but for food safety chill the meat down by running it under cold water or an ice...
