Even in Sam's Club they break down what the amount is for each, so it's not really HP being shady. The OP just made a mistake, that's all

Not bad at all. Just add a SSD Edit: Comment was based on 24GB...8GB sucks

Title is misleading, should be 8gb memory

Just noticed that as well. Guess i'll need to add some more ram as well as the ssd!

I have a spare EVGA 600 Watt power supply and an RX 580 8gb video card. Would you say its not too hard to put those parts in this PC?

Is this deal better than the $500 Costco deal linked here? I plan to use the PC for lightroom and photoshop. ...

I'd warn that swapping motherboards or SSD's quite often causes Windows to see it as a hardware change. YMMV on getting MS to honor the old OEM serial number.

Is Optane as fast as SSD? does it mean I don't need to get a SSD upgrade?
Post #120612961 added 10-10-2018 2:24 PM by chandleya in Deal Talk
Windows OEM doesn’t use a serial number and hasn’t since Windows ME. Xp and forward was keyed off of an embedded bios SLIC.

One open PCIe-mini slot for a wlan chip and one M.2 slot occupied by the optane chip. You could pull to optane and add an M.2 SSD but I don't know if it supports NVMe and that is a requirement in my...

Not really. I mean no one would buy a 16GB SSD. It might load the OS nearly as fast. It would run out of memory for loading much else. You would be far better off buying a SSD. Optane is...

Curious, checked specs and has two DDR4 UDIMM (288-pin) sockets. One RAM slot is being used for the included 8 GB. If I remove the Optane memory, can one be added to the remaining RAM slot or are...

I forgot to mention that you have to be a staples reward member. It is quick and free to sign up.

Yeah I actually upvoted based on the 24GB but then your post made me realize it's just 8 GB of ram. They shouldn't lump optane memory which is a disk cache as system memory.

"Not to hard" is subjective, but most connections to a motherboard and misc. components that come from power supplies, are fool proof, IE they can only fit one connector. Not 100% true all the time,...

Solid if you have some rewards and a $25 off $75. May not work on PCs but customer support usually allows it

Optane memory module takes up/wastes a m.2 slot, so the second RAM slot should be free unless they did a 2x4GB configuration. Also advertising this as a 24GB RAM system is shady as heck. stay...

It's pretty easy to call Microsoft to get help in this situation, you just tell them your old motherboard died and you just replaced it. Upgrading to an SSD will not cause issues.

The processor is $310. So this is not a bad price but not a great price.

Post #120609610 added 10-10-2018 12:05 PM by GreenCrib7113 in Deal Talk
Does it have a free m.2 slot that's not being used by optane storage? Edit It has 325W power.. I think I'll pass.

Title misleading. This system only has 8GB of memory plus a 16GB Optane storage.
