Did some more research. This is correct, the port is HDMI 2.0. The "Compatibility Mode" is to use the monitor with a pre-HDMI 2.0 device. So indeed, should get the full refresh rate on HDMI 2.0. ...

Granted, I don't have this monitor, but if the HDMI ports on the monitor and the video card are both HDMI 2.0, then it should technically be able to do 144hz at 1440p. My current setup is a GTX 970...
