For Photoshop/Lightroom if you are dealing with large raw files you want a better processor and at least 8gb of RAM. A $300 laptop unless it is a pricing error is never going to be a good photoshop...

I used parallel computation in some testing work, which made other tasks (web browsing, word processing) slow down substantially. In a typical daily usage, it is totally fine.
