Yes, they make sure the phones are iCloud unlocked but not carrier unlocked. I'd be careful trying to trade-in iCloud locked cells since they take your Driver's License Info.

Credit should be given if your ready to buy and gc is for when your not buying. Personally I would choose either credit or refund instead of gc so your cc has extra yr warranty.
