You might check your HOA rules/deed restrictions for rules on height, etc. But I've never heard of an appraisal district/taxing authority assessing tax on a pre-fab, unfinished storage structure.

I disagree. IF you have the skills (a big IF) and the time (big IF #2) to build one yourself, you will wind up with a much more durable shed than this item....I'm assuming you're building with 16"...
