Because the Big Mac uses the same meat as their cheaper cheeseburgers. Quarter Pounder uses bigger patties, fresh meat etc. Big Macs are highly dressed mcdoubles.

Can't you add mac sauce to anything for free? I used to just get McDoubles and add mac sauce if I wanted a Big Mac. Unless they caught on to that and started charging for mac sauce.
