Not true- depends on locality but it's pretty easy to pedal most bikes above 20mph without any motors.. 20 isn't that fast on a bike. YMMV

I just bought the BBSHD 1000W motor DIY kit from china...for the same price, I can get 3 times the power for 3 times the range (so 9x better). But it is still a DIY so it may not look as nice as this...
