Boy do I love Sanderson, but this series leaned a BIT too much to the YA side for me. Just finished Skyward, and that is bang on for my tastes. Still worth a read though!

I'll also chime in and say that I loved the Mistborn trilogy and the first two books of The Stormlight Archive (haven't finished Oathbringer yet) are some of the best fantasy books I've ever read....

I think part of the problem is that the cool world building/magic system explaining happens in the 2nd and 3rd books. The main character gets more depth in those books too.

You could get both the Kindle versions and the Audible versions for $12 total, which seems like a great deal (I haven't listened to them yet, thus, the "seems").
