Would any of these be decent for a vmware home lab if I put 16 GB RAM in, or will the age of the processor show? Looks like I can get 2 x 8 GB for about $70.

I have extensive experience with these models. The Lenovo have the least amount of proprietary parts. They use the same boards in the towers and the SFF. They are standard micro ATX, so you can...

This is right on point and applies more and more the lower your average cpu load is. For reference I run a somewhat similar SFF workstation (Z210) with an old 2011 Xeon E3-1225 and with 6 moderate...

Yep mine is the same with the 500GB drive. I've thrown an SSD in this thing and used a $4 Ebay Win 10 key and this thing runs fantastic.

Also note that the i3-8100 is the old i5. i3-8100 has 4 cores now like the old i5s. i5-8XXX are 6-core CPUs now. The i3-8100 is “faster” than the i5-3XXX.

Decent deal on the 8GB with Win 7 pro, for those of us who need clients for older SBS installs. The 2 year warranty beats the heck out of Dell's refurbs. Prices beat them too, by a few bucks.

Just an FYI it looks like these SFF have a 240 watt PSU. You can probably get a gt1030 to power up which is about 250% more performance than the integrated HD 4600 that comes with the 4th gen CPU's

No, unless it was defective when the refurb Co. wiped them when reloading Windows. That would be a pretty small percentage.

I guess it should work. However, my desktop full size tower CPU is always running at 60% and this deal is SFF which will run hotter due to smaller case.

Had these SFF units only had a 90 day warranty I would agree. Being they have 2 years no way to go wrong for $154 AR for the HP I bought.

Put in a larger hard drive and blu-ray drive and these should make good Plex servers. They look strong enough to transcode and rip movies.
