It has been said several times the 2.5 bay is taken up by the 4 cell battery. If you want to use it you need to downgrade to the smaller battery

From reading this thread I actually thought there were TWO 2.5" slots and one of the two was taken up by the 4 cell battery. Didn't realize there was only ONE 2.5" slot.

It’s sold from Eluktronics’ Newegg storefront, so I think you are basically buying direct from the company. For 1k you can find GTX 1060 models, or used 7th gen CPU with GTX 1070.
