your receiver does NOT "power" your sub, it merely gives it a line level signal. the sub has it's own built in amp. If your receiver does not have dual sub outputs, you can simply use a "y" adapter..

The SB12 would be underwhelming. It's a sealed 12" down to 23hz. I'm referring to the PB12. Ported 12", which will dig down to 18hz. Different subs entirely.
