You can easily mix 2 different types of subs provided you eq them and set them up properly. I have 2 subs that cover 10hz-46hz then 2 subs to cover 36hz-100hz. My mains take over from there.

your receiver does NOT "power" your sub, it merely gives it a line level signal. the sub has it's own built in amp. If your receiver does not have dual sub outputs, you can simply use a "y" adapter..

U can mix any subs. One sub should have the capability of having adjustable phase. The system will be limited to the lesser subs’ capabilities.
