Sure. But I only have a 4-bay NAS, so RAID 5 is the sweet spot for me since it provides some redundancy while only reducing the total storage capacity by 25%. If I had 5+ drives, I'd go for RAID 6....

That's valid... depends on the use case IMHO. If the data is low priority relative to investment, and it is also backed up... like in my case, running 11 drives to get 64TB usable not only saved me...
