No it wouldn’t. You need a thunderbolt 3 cable. Thunderbolt 3 uses the usbc format. This cable is a usb 2.0 that uses the usbc format.

That’s still the case. Apple started their move to USB-C 4 years ago with the MacBook though. Now iPad has it and yes I’m sure eventually iPhone will. All iPhones now can fast charge now though.
