I don't entirely understand the sequence of events, but it actually seems like the newer model did away with the additional features. My $100 quote on the Elite was based on a comment from an Amazon...

So they retail $25 for the basic model, but add $75 for a stupid simple software change?! Is this true? I am an embedded software programmer, FWIW.

Seconding this, e-series needs to go away. The inside gets super gross. Upgraded a few years ago, haven’t looked back.

Costco has the current style for $60 for two. Better deal than this considering the upgrade.

True, but a little maintenance goes a long way. I just hit the inside of the handle with a bleach-dipped q-tip whenever I clean the rest of the bathroom and it stays pretty mildew-free.
