Yeah right. The "bios crapware" made sure that Lenovo's driver check and update software was installed and if it wasn't, it reinstalled it. Perfectly reasonable for a company to do considering many...

Lenovo support remarked differently on this model's page. That's why I wrote that.

Reserving ram for iGPU is more of a mobile Ryzen processor thing. If this was a ryzen cpu laptop, you'd have to upgrade to 16gb if you wanted to consider to use it as a light gaming machine. But...

Superfish was visual searchware that had a hidden man-in-the-middle that Lenovo was unaware of. Superfish was from a California based company that originally started in Isreal. It wasn't sending...

Agreed 10,000%. And unlike the HP I bought a few weeks ago and attempted to remove the bottom cover to replace the HDD with an SSD, this appears to come apart with a bunch of screws and a little...

Check at the bottom of the specs. Looks like this may be refurbished. Caveat emptor

Seriously, they got caught with (at least)one instance of each... and the bios MUST be created by the mfg.. all laptop boards are made by the mfg and they do not outsource the bios coding

Nice price. However, No Backlit keyboard kills the deal for me.

Yeah, I wanted that one but it went OOS. Seems there's more elasticity in the price, so I'll wait for BF. After using nothing but SSD machines for over 8 years, its hard to go back to a spinning...

I agree. I finally gave that same one with the SSD to my daughter as an early birthday present and she's enjoying the speed of it.

BTW, I used the staples $50 off on another laptop that had a problem and I returned it. System won't let you use the coupon again, even though you did a return.

Edit: mine was a 256gb SSD versus a 1tb Hard drive; same price. No sense buying any laptop without SSD. Got this a few weeks back from a Staples for my elementary school daughters. Quick...

As far as I know, the screen and keyboard on this are replaceable. At this price if you really want a touch screen or backlit keyboard, it might be worth it.

I hate to get out of line on this, but did my own research and all models of the L340 (Intel -IWL & AMD Ryzen -API) appear to support NVME and SATA on the M.2 interface. ...

Went to store looking for this laptop.. They order one as S340 with same price and took additional $50 off. Not sure what the difference between L340 and S340. Will be here on Friday.

The passmark for this i5 is about the same as the ipad pro. However, lots of things are different about the architecture and features. Not even apples and oranges. Kiwi and a Yeti.

I guess all laptops they sell are refurbished since all laptops have the same spec.
Post #130811353 added 10-01-2019 7:24 PM by tenkay in Deal Talk
Its not refurbished, thats just the stupid way Staples does their product listings. If it was refurb, it says "factory refurbished" or something similar. This says factory original, aka "new".

Totally. It's a huge conspiracy. Kennedy started it. Actually, they place tiny zombies inside the RAM so that your data gets stuck on the bus--with zombies. Worst part? They're Chinese spy...

This is so wrong. The poster asked a question and didn't say anything of the sort like you're stating. Considering people buy laptops infrequently over the span of many years, I'd view this as a...

I know what Superfish is. Lenovo had other intentional infractions that you're not talking about.

Yeah, that's not what I said, and that's not what was posted. I actually own a Lenovo, so I don't have any bias one way or the other. I just think the guy was abused for posting a legit question. ...

I havent done it on this specific model. But it should be the same as any other laptop. Basically a couple screws and thats it. Basically plug and play.
Post #130812841 added 10-01-2019 8:43 PM by TunaSushi in Deal Talk
I don't know why you're being downvoted. Lenovo has a reputation of installing malware (Superfish), adware, and bloatware on its laptops. The FTC has fined them millions of dollars in penalties,...

Does Lenovo still put spying bios or malware on its laptops?
Post #130761808 added 09-29-2019 8:21 AM by Be_Kind in Deal Talk
How much RAM is reserved for the GPU? I have seen a S340 with Ryzen 5 where the GPU was configured to take 2 GB RAM without the option of changing to a lesser value in the BIOS.
Post #130761994 added 09-29-2019 8:31 AM by tenkay in Deal Talk
You can change gpu vram usage in the bios or (I think) in the intel graphics settings app.
