You can go back to just having XBL and keep your free games. You just can't convert your time back to XBL after upgrading to Ultimate. So just let Ultimate expire, then just renew XBL.

So if you added this you'll be at either 7/2022 or 8/2022 if it gives you the option for a free month if you turn auto-renew on (YMMV, can turn it off right afterwards) and pretty close to maxed out....

For me, on the microsoft website, next to subcriptions, it said "Upgrade to Ultimate." Once you click on that, you should see that the $14.99 is crossed out and it says $1. That's the promo right...

I'm thinking the Ultimate upgrade doesn't offer the 1mo free for auto renewal. When you put codes in to extend your time, you should be prompted each time though.
