That's not how percentages work. Basic math. Let's say tax free. (1-20%)*5%=4% cash back, and Discover is paying 5% back on Amazon if you have Discover it Cash Back card.

I am eligible. You save 20% of what you spend, up to $250 for a max discount of $50. In addition Discover It card should be 5% back on Amazon purchases. A pretty nice deal, IMO.

It is a Discover promotion, so I'm pretty sure you have to use a Discover card & at least 1 cent of Cashback. Then on the final paid you would get the 5% category bonus from Discover I tried...
